A page for a Daily Photo (or 2 or 3): some taken by me, some taken by others, some with purpose and some just random… just little moments that say a lot.

All the sudden a man showed up on the promenade and started throwing bread into the air. (this is the result)

Late at night on a quiet street in the village, there stood a man painting in the street. If you live in New York, just remember you live in a city where little moments like this happen.

I left the table for a second. And in that second, Mokie snuck up on the chair and seized his chance to have a taste of spaghetti. I got it in time because he was too busy admiring it.

I am recycling these even though they are in one of my blog posts. Not just because I love them, and believe they belong in the Darkroom page, but because I can still hear her laughter when I see these photos.

Today was my 20th birthday, and I spent it walking around Manhattan after a lovely brunch at Alice's Tea Cup. At the end of the day, I'd decided I was looking forward to the next decade of birthdays. But the best part, is the end of the day, where you get to make a wish and indulge in sugar. Whoever thought up the idea of cake on your birthday was brilliant. Baloo photo-bombed this shot, and for a moment made a wish that the red velvet Crumbs cupcake was his.

back in Manhattan, I was minding my own business, when i looked down at my feet and stumbled across a De La Vega writing. He dazzled the streets of the Upper East Side with sayings written in chalk, but this was by far my most favorite. After all, you'll always have yourself, and if you've got that you've got everything.

"It is the illusion of time that makes you talk of causality. When the past and the future are seen in the timeless now, as parts of a common pattern, the idea of cause-effect loses its validity and creative freedom takes its place."- Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

i just emptied my bag for a serious cleaning. over time when you own a big 'bucket' purse you just throw everything in there. well, this is one of the piles of items that i dumped out of my bag. 6 different lip balms, a gym lock, a buddha figurine, a piece of wrigley double mint gum, and my ticket stub from 'human centipede'. i found this randomness hilarious and also learned why my bag was getting so heavy.

today's my youngest brothers 15th birthday. At 5 years old holding him at just a few weeks, I wasn't sure how to react to another little brother. We made fun of eachother, re-inacted Disney films and fought like siblings do. But 15 years later, I'm glad to have both of them as my brothers. Would have been lonely if i didn't have anyone else to make a mess with. Happy Birthday Dylan.

i used to try to catch birds at the park because i wanted to keep one for a pet. after repetitively running from my mother to chase a bird, she told me "you can only catch birds on Tuesday's conor". we didn't go to the park on Tuesdays. my sad face says one thing: this is clearly a Wednesday.

by the time we got to the end of the patch, her basket was empty, and her face was red with raspberry juice. "oops" she said with a giggle.

“Smile”
Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though it’s breaking.
When there are clouds in the sky
you’ll get by.
If you smile through your pain and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You’ll see the sun shining through
For you.
Light up your face with gladness,
Hide every trace of sadness.
Although a tear may be ever so near
That’s the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what’s the use of crying.
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile.

New Yorker's may be speeding by, but the great thing about that city is there is a constant interaction with people. even if for a moment.

there’s just nothing like the good old Polaroid. It was my first camera, and as much as it’s great to get a really clear digital shot, there’s something more real about the grainy shots of Film and Polaroid

in the picture of you and me? i was telling you this:
“conor, you are as vast as the sky and as deep as the ocean.
you are as quick as the river and as calm as a stream.
you are wise, even at 1,
and as clear as a day is perfect.
your whole life is ahead of you and at the same time, your whole life is now…”
(that was 18 years ago. i told you that every year and it is still true today.
love you all the way to There.)
